RISK management and Insurance 101 for Georgia Home Builders - Continuing Education - Lunch Included

What are the most common Structural/foundation/soils issues that Builders face? What are the biggest mistakes builders make? Understanding Georgia’s implied warranty case law; and what that means to you. Avoid lawyers and TORT claims. HOW? We will outline a roadmap, that includes a CONTRACT firewall. Understanding SIX exposures to loss. How to avoid them; how to insure for them. Georgia’s Implied warranty case law. What does this mean to you as a builder? Make it a contract issue; NOT a tort or an insurance claim. We’ll discuss how. INSURANCE for your business is important. But that’s not all. We’ll discuss How to best protect your assets. This session qualifies under the rules of the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors for two (3) continuing education credit hours. A 48-hour written notice is required for ALL cancellations -- NO REFUNDS FOR NO-SHOWS.

Class will be conducted at the GCHBA offices.

Andy Weldon, Risk Management Specialist, Maverick


James Leach is an attorney and Executive Director of Maverick. He has a JD [with honors] from Drake University School of Law, and is admitted to the Bar in Iowa. He is a Duke University graduate, with an MBA and Masters in Insurance, and a CPCU and CLU. He is an Airline Transport Pilot and Multi Engine Flight Instructor with 6,000 flight hours, beginning as a pilot in the US Air Force.

Andy Weldon is a regional sales manager for Maverick, with a background in construction and foundations, having worked for Aqua Guard. He is graduate of the University of Georgia and played football for Arkansas State as a linebacker. IF Andy is running toward you, run the other way. You don’t want that collision.



Time

Lunch will be served during the class.

Pricing

3 Hour Class is $75 for members.  Non member cost is $100.  Lunch is included in the cost.
